Brecklyn Ferrin, Violinist

Brecklyn Ferrin earned her bachelor’s degree from Indiana University, and her master’s from the University of Utah. She is McKenzie’s favorite oldest sister. She gives excellent book recommendations and general life advice and holds grudges for decades if someone’s a jerk to her siblings. She is great at board games, puzzles, and eyeball ping pong. Her children adore and complain about her constantly.

Brynn is a violinist, teacher, and mother of two busy daughters. She has taught in the Salt Lake Valley for 8 years, including 4 years at the Gifted Music School. Brynn received her bachelor’s degree from Utah State University in the studio of Rebecca McFaul of the Fry Street Quartet and her master’s at Arizona State University, studying with Katie McLin. She is a former member of the Orchestra at Temple Square and former section violinist for both the Symphony of the Southwest and West Valley Symphony (professional symphonies in Phoenix, Arizona). In her free time, Brynn enjoys trail running in the nearby mountains and reading books with happy endings.

She received a B.M. in Violin Performance at Utah State University as a student of Rebecca McFaul and the Fry Street Quartet.

Rex Colin Mitchell, Cellist

Colin is a cellist, teacher, and father of five wild children. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Utah State University, and his master’s degree from the University of Arizona. His mentors include Anne Francis Bayless and the Fry Street Quartet. He has been teaching Suzuki cello since 2012, and is former faculty at the Gifted Music School in Salt Lake City and the Intermountain Suzuki String Institute. He loves cooking, spending time with his kids, and fixing his bicycles, of which he has too many.
